Trial fitting, installation and safety instructions

READ BEFORE FITTING. Do not drill, cut, bond, sand or make any other permanent change before a full test fit. With a set of several parts, trial-fit all of them before working on any one of them.

1. Purpose of these instructions

These instructions set out the minimum procedure for inspecting and trial-fitting HELK DESIGN Products before installation. A specific Product sheet or model-specific instructions may provide additional steps.

2. Inspection on delivery

Check the packaging in the presence of the courier. If there is visible damage, draw up a damage report.
Unpack the Product on a soft, clean surface. Do not rest the parts on their edges on a hard surface.
Check that the fitting kit is complete and that the Product matches the order.
Document the condition of the Product with photos immediately after unpacking.

3. Trial fitting (test fit)

Wash and dry the body surface at the fitting location.
Offer up the part without adhesive and without drilling. Use mounting tape to fix its position temporarily.
Assess the gaps, the parallelism with the body lines and the contact along the whole length.
With a set, trial-fit all parts at the same time – the fit of one part affects the others.
If the fit raises doubts, stop the installation and contact HELK DESIGN before any permanent work.

Starting to drill, cut, sand, bond or paint means accepting the fit of the Product and may limit the possibility of a return or a complaint about fit.

4. Installation

We recommend having the parts fitted in an authorised workshop or by a HELK DESIGN partner.
Use only adhesives and tapes intended for composite parts and painted surfaces.
Keep to the fitting temperature and curing time recommended by the adhesive manufacturer.
Do not overtighten the fixings – this can crack the laminate.

5. Safety

When cutting and sanding composites, protect your airways, eyes and hands.
Carbon and glass fibre dust is an irritant – work in a ventilated room.
Aero parts fitted contrary to the instructions may come loose while driving.
After fitting, check the fixings after the first 100 km and then periodically.

6. Use and care

Wash by hand, without aggressive detergents and without pressure washers close to the edges.
Avoid prolonged exposure to solvents and strongly alkaline products.
Unpainted parts with a UV clear-coat surface should be protected from prolonged sunlight.
Report mechanical damage immediately – a crack in a laminate propagates quickly.
